Preparing for Camp

  • First Day of Camp

    Drop-Off: Camper drop-off is from 8-8:30am at the designated area in a “Kiss and Ride: style. There will be counselors in orange and signs directing you on which way to go.

    Medications: You will have until 8:30am to speak with the Health Advisor, drop off forms, and/or medications (in the original container).

    Other business: If you have any other camp business to handle, there will be designated area to park and ask other questions of the Directors or staff.

    Groups: Campers will receive a name tag that corresponds with their morning counselor and assemble in the designated area. Promptly at 8:30am, Junior campers will go to Technology and Senior campers will begin Athletics.

    Attendance: Attendance is taken first thing in the morning and right after lunch. If your camper is absent and we have not heard from you, we will call the camper contacts on file, around 9am to verify for safety. Please contact the camp office if your child is absent for any reason.

  • What to Bring

    Essential items you should bring:

    o   A big smile, positive attitude, and openness for adventure!

    o   Small backpack to carry with you throughout the day.

    o   A full water bottle, to be filled throughout the day with your name on it.

    o   Snacks and lunch with utensils (unless you pre-ordered lunch in DC & VA). Note: We do not have refrigerators or microwaves!

    o   Sunscreen Some will also be provided to be self-administer.

    Please leave at home:

    o   Anything that is valuable or important to you.

    o   Video game devices or other electronic devices (cell phones to be stowed in bag).

    o   Weapons, drugs, alcohol, or pets.

    o   Your own computer, software or USB drives for the computer.

  • Typical Day

    Drop-off: 8:00-8:30 AM. During the Drop-off window, campers will head to a designated space and participate in supervised activities. We will begin the day with a camp-wide morning greet right at 8:30, before campers head to their activities.

    8:30am-11:30am. Technology and Athletics programs run for approx. 3 hours each every day of the session.

    Lunch: 11:30am to 12:00pm.

    12-3pm. Technology and Athletics programs run for approx. 3 hours. If you were in tech in the AM, you then go to Athletics. It switches each day.

    Pick-up: 3:00-3:15 PM. Carpool. Campers hang out with their group and wait for their name to be called. Self-dismiss campers can check out with the Director. Campers picked up later than 3:15 PM will head to Extended Day.

  • What to Wear

    o   Comfortable clothes that you can play sports & games in!

    o   Athletic shoes or CLOSED TOE SHOES (this is the most important!)

    o   You can also bring a sweatshirt with you if you'd like- sometimes the Technology rooms can get chilly!

    o   TIC T-shirts will be distributed at the beginning of the second week of each session. Campers can wear them anytime!

  • Parent Communication

    Camp App & Photos

    The TIC App features important announcements. updates and reminders about camp events, access to forms, and camp photos and videos! It is also an easy way to get in touch with us, with all of our roles and contact information in one place.

    Photos will also be available on the Camp App.

  • Last Day of Camp

    Open House & Projects

    Open House: You are invited to visit camp in the afternoon on the last day of the session! Spend part or all of the afternoon visiting with your camper’s counselor and seeing tech projects. You’ll also have a chance to see our Athletics program in action. We realize many parents will be missing work to attend, so a more detailed schedule will be emailed and posted during the session.

    Camper Projects: Can’t make it to the Open House? No worries! We will have all the camper’s projects uploaded within a week of their departure for downloading, bragging and forwarding!
