Job Title: Animation Counselor
Reports To: Program Director of Multimedia
Position Purpose: The Animation Counselor is responsible for helping creative campers bring their art to life through 2D, 3D, and stop-motion animation. This role teaches the fundamentals of 2D animation using Adobe Animate and drawing tablets, as well as the technical process of stop-motion using Dragonframe. For senior campers, the counselor provides instruction in 3D animation using Blender, focusing on either character modeling or rig-based animation. This role fosters artistic expression, technical skill, and storytelling while maintaining a supportive camp environment.
Supervision and Camper Engagement
Assist in the supervision and organization of campers during animation activities to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
Apply youth development principles by fostering communication, teamwork, and confidence in campers.
Ensure campers are actively engaged, properly supervised, and following safety protocols at all times.
Program Implementation
Teach 2D animation fundamentals using Adobe Animate, including the use of timelines, keyframes, frame rates, and vector design tools.
Guide campers in the use of drawing tablets to develop unique digital cartoons, characters, and backgrounds.
Facilitate stop-motion animation projects using Dragonframe software to capture and edit physical creations.
Lead senior campers in 3D animation using Blender, offering specialized instruction in 3D modeling or animating with pre-made rigs.
Adapt instruction for various experience levels, providing foundational support for beginners in 2D and stop-motion while challenging advanced students in 3D.
Assist in planning and executing camp-wide activities, including all-camp events and free periods.

Qualifications:
Proficiency in 2D animation using Adobe Animate and experience with digital drawing tablets.

By fostering creativity and technical mastery, the counselor helps campers develop everything from interactive obstacles to complex 3D environments, bridging the gap between playing games and developing them.

This role empowers campers to develop custom biomes, unique mobs, specialized armor, and entirely new dimensions, allowing their imaginations to run wild in the "driver’s seat" of game development.

Qualifications:
Proven proficiency in ping pong (table tennis), including knowledge of rules, scoring, and technical skills (spin, serves, and rallies).

Position Purpose: The RPG/Athletics Counselor is responsible for leading immersive role-playing game sessions and athletic activities for campers, fostering creative storytelling, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. This role requires a passion for tabletop gaming (such as Dungeons & Dragons) and sports, ensuring campers have a unique experience that balances high-fantasy adventuring with physical movement and team sports.
Supervision & Camper Engagement
Lead and supervise campers in both specialized RPG campaigns and general athletics, ensuring a fun and safe learning environment.
Apply youth development principles by fostering character development, confidence, and cooperation within an adventuring party.
Maintain high levels of camper engagement, supervision, and adherence to safety protocols during all activities.
Program Implementation
Design and implement engaging RPG campaigns using light versions of D&D or other systems, focusing on puzzles, narrative choices, and character creation.
Teach specialized RPG blocks daily to campers in grades 2-5 (Juniors) and 6-10 (Seniors), adapting the complexity of the "adventures" (defeating dragons, navigating mazes, solving curses) to the age group.
Serve as an Athletics Counselor for two-thirds of the camp day, actively participating in and leading sports programming.
Guide campers to drive their own stories while facilitating teamwork within their adventuring party and on the athletic field.

Reports To: Specials Coordinator
Position Purpose: The Drama/Athletics Counselor is responsible for leading engaging drama lessons and participating in the athletics program. This role requires a unique blend of creativity and physical energy, fostering theater skills for two hours daily while guiding campers through sports activities for the remainder of the day. The counselor ensures a positive and supportive environment where campers can develop artistic confidence, athletic skills, and teamwork.
Supervision and Camper Engagement
Assist in the supervision and organization of campers during drama and athletics activities to ensure a safe and engaging experience.
Apply youth development principles by fostering communication, teamwork, and confidence among campers through structured activities.
Ensure campers are actively engaged, properly supervised, and following safety protocols at all times.
Drama Instruction
Teach drama lessons to beginner and intermediate campers for two hours daily.
Develop and implement a drama program tailored to both junior (2nd-5th grade) and senior (6th-10th grade) campers.
Guide campers in the collaborative process of creating and rehearsing an original performance to be showcased at the end of each session.
Athletics Participation
Lead and instruct athletic activities for two-thirds of each day, ensuring a fun and safe sports environment.
